EAI Participates in FAO Guidelines for Sustainable Aquaculture (GSA) Implementation Framework for Europe
The new FAO Guidelines for Sustainable Aquaculture (GSA) provide a clear set of normative principles and good practices to guide global aquaculture into the future, serving as a practical tool to align policy, planning, and actions at all levels of societies. They are designed to help unlock sustainable growth by addressing key constraints, enhancing environmental performances, fostering innovation, and competitiveness. Dr. Costa-Pierce, EAI’s CEO/CSO participated in two virtual meetings then at sessions at the European Aquaculture Society meeting in Valencia, Spain to assist in development of a GSA Implementation Framework for Europe. The FAO is conducting these type of regional learning sessions and sessions throughout the world to put the GSA into concrete action that address each region’s unique challenges and opportunities. In doing so, regions like Europe can benefit from relevant global experiences while sharing Europe’s own solutions and innovations with the wider world — positioning each region as both a beneficiary and a contributor to the shared global vision for sustainable aquaculture.
